ABOUT DR. ANDERSON
Approach:
Dr. Anderson's approach to psychotherapy is one that is based on biological, psychological, and social factors and is informed by current research. Factors including physical health, emotional well-being, and interpersonal supports and relationships are all important to mental health.
She uses “cognitive-behavioral therapy,” which focuses on both thought styles and behavioral patterns.
The goals of psychotherapy will be developed and discussed with you. It is important that you feel you are working toward goals that are important and valuable to you. As much as possible, we will make these goals tangible and attainable.
Experience and background:
Dr. Anderson received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Queen's University in 2002 and is registered for autonomous practice as a psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She has over 20 years experience helping patients.
In addition to her private practice, Dr. Anderson has conducted numerous workshops in North America and abroad on the Static-99, Stable and Acute 2007 for treatment providers and supervisors of sexual offenders.
She has published numerous book chapters, articles in professional journals, and co-authored a book for treatment professionals: Cognitive Behavioural Treatment of Sexual Offenders (Wiley & Sons, ©2000).
